2023 School

The 2023 School was a big success! After a great online school (July 31 – August 4), with an array of lectures, a panel on Women in STEM, and an extensive Python and git/GitHub curriculum, the in-person school kicked off at the University of Ghana (August 14 – 18). The first day featured the opening ceremony, a handful of lightning talks, and then we split into 4 project tracks.
– Biogeochemistry
– Fisheries
– Physical Oceanography, Climate Modeling, and Python Computing
– Science and Policy of Plastics
The rest of the week was spent diving into small group research projects, including some field trips. At the end of the week on Friday, we merged the COESSING program with that of the West African Marine Science Symposium (WAMSS). In the morning, COESSING participants presented their research projects and in the afternoon we were treated to talks and panels from WAMSS participants. Thank you to everyone who participated and who helped make this year so special!
